Each Commissioner shall be an honorably discharged soldier, sailor, marine, airman or Coast Guard member and a resident of the City. The Commissioners shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council for staggered three-year terms. Terms shall commence on July 1 beginning with appointments made in 2020 and shall continue until a successor is appointed but in no event more than six months following the end of the term.
