(A) The compensation for this office shall be paid in an amount as established by the City Council pursuant to KRS 83A.080. Bonuses and extra compensation may be paid to the Police Chief for services rendered. Such a determination to pay bonuses and extra compensation to the Police Chief for services rendered shall be made by the City Council and shall become part of the fixed compensation of the Police Chief, subject to the decision of the City Council to appropriate the funds set forth in the annual budget ordinance of the city.
(B) The Chief of Police shall report to the Mayor and City Council.
(C) The Chief of Police shall, before entering upon his or her duties, take the oath of office as provided in the state’s Constitution, § 228.
