§ 31.04  JUNIOR FIREFIGHTERS; CERTIFICATION; INSURANCE.
   (A)   Title. The title of this section shall be known as the “Junior Firefighter Programs Ordinance of Grayson County, Virginia.”

   (B)   Certification; exemption of trainer or instructor; insurance.
      (1)   Any person 16 years of age or older, with parental or guardian approval, may work with or participate fully in all activities of a volunteer fire company or department, provided that such person has attained certification under National Fire Protection Association 1001, Level One, firefighter standards, as administered by the Department of Fire Programs.
      (2)   Any trainer or instructor of such persons mentioned in division (B)(1) above, or any member of a volunteer fire company who supervises any such person at the scene of an emergency shall be exempt from the provisions of VA Code § 40.1-103, as amended, provided that the volunteer fire company or department has, in force, insurance which provides coverage for injuries to or the death of such person in the performance of his or her activities under this section.
