§ 53.039  CONNECTION TO PUBLIC SEWER.
The owner of each and every property abutting in any manner upon a street or alley through which runs a public sewer, or through whose land a public sewer runs, shall be required to connect the premises with such sewer and discontinue the use of privies, outside toilets or any other disposal system, provided that such connection is technically feasible and will not require a private sewer line over 250 feet in length, in which event the property owner may be excused from the necessity of such connection, in the discretion of the Town Council, if an approved septic tank is constructed and maintained according to the standards required by the State Health Department of Virginia (February 1977), as amended.
