§ 32.20 AUTHORITY.
Governance. The City of Independence through its legislative body is free to adopt general parliamentary law to govern its proceedings and is also free to supplement those general rules and procedures with any special rules or procedures composed by the legislative body to fit its particular needs. Such rules or procedures must conform to any state law requirements regarding the conduct of meetings. Since the Kentucky Revised Statutes establish only very basic requirements concerning how city legislative body meetings are actually managed once properly convened, Kentucky cities have wide latitude to establish their own rules of order and procedures.
