§ 31.37 CITY ATTORNEY.
   (A)   There is hereby created the office of City Attorney, who shall advise and counsel other city officers, be the city's advocate, and have such other powers and duties as may be prescribed by order or ordinance.
   (B)   The City Attorney shall take the oath prescribed by Kentucky Constitution, Section 228. The City Attorney shall, before entering upon the duties of his office, be covered by a bond in the penal sum of $10,000, or such other sum as may be fixed by the City Commission which bond may be a blanket bond covering other city officials.
   (C)   The City Attorney shall receive such compensation as may be fixed by ordinance.
   (D)   The city may retain the services of a qualified attorney as attorney for the city, and pay reasonable compensation as determined by the City Commission in lieu of appointing a City Attorney. In the event such an attorney is retained, all references herein to the City Attorney shall mean attorney for the city.
