(A) The city has the option to provide medical and dental insurance for the employee and family of full-time employees. By federal guidelines, employees who work more than 30 hours per week qualify to participate in the group medical and dental benefits.
(B) The city has the option to provide life insurance.
(C) All elected and appointed officials, employees and all volunteers are covered by a policy of Comprehensive General Liability Risk Liability insurance.
(D) Kentucky Revised Statutes permits employees leaving their employer to have the option of continuing some of their benefits (health insurance and dental insurance) at their own expense. A person employed by the city enrolled in the employee health plan, can choose to continue the insurance coverage if his/her position is lost due to reduction in hours or termination of employment. The spouse of an employee can choose to continue the coverage at his/her expense in the case of the death of the employee, termination of the employee, divorce or legal separation from spouse, or if the spouse qualifies for coverage by Medicare. Similar circumstances would permit the child of a separated employee to continue the coverage. Coverage shall be that provided in Kentucky Revised Statutes Chapter 304. The City Administrative Officer will be able to provide more information on the Kentucky Continuation of Coverage law options for affected employees and dependents.
