(A) The Community Development and Redevelopment Department (hereinafter referred to as “Department”) is hereby authorized and directed to administer and enforce all of the provisions of this chapter, and the Building Commissioner (as Building Commissioner, Electrical Inspector, and Plumbing Inspector) shall act on behalf of the Department for these purposes. The Building Commissioner, Electrical Inspector, and Plumbing Inspector may designate persons to act on his/her behalf with the full authority granted herein.
(B) The Building Commissioner shall not engage in, or have a pecuniary interest in, any business of building construction, either directly or indirectly, which operates in the jurisdiction of the Building Commissioner.
(C) Any variance from the adopted building rules is subject to approval under IC 22-13-2-7(B).
