§ 100.17 MOVING BUILDING OR HOUSE ON STREET.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to move any building on, over, or along any street, sidewalk, alley, or other public ground of the city without having first obtained a written permit therefor from the City Engineer.
   (B)   Before the permit shall be issued, applicant shall pay to the Clerk-Treasurer a fee of $1 for each 100 square feet of floor space or fraction thereof.
   (C)   The permit shall specifically set forth the time within which the moving shall be completed as well as the points from which and to which the same is intended to be made and the route over which the building shall be moved.
   (D)   Before any permit shall be granted, it shall be made to appear to the satisfaction of the City Engineer that the means to be adopted and the facilities to be employed by the applicant desiring the permit are adequate to effect the removal speedily and without any unnecessary interference with the public convenience, and that the same is in no way liable to injure or damage any street, sidewalk, alley, sewer, shade trees, or other public property. Applicant shall also sign an agreement indemnifying and holding the city harmless from and against any and all claims, actions, damages, and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, based on any alleged injury (including death) to any person or damage to any property arising, or alleged to have arisen, out of any act of commission or omission with respect to the activity or work of applicant (or persons, firms, or corporations authorized by applicant) in a public right-of-way pursuant to the building moving permit.
   (E)   Any person, firm, or corporation engaged in moving any house or building across the line of any telephone, telegraph, electric, or other wires shall give written notice at least 24 hours prior to the time of crossing the line of wires to the owner, agent, or manager having control or supervision over those wires to remove the same or elevate them so as to permit the building to pass, and the cost of the removal or elevation and replacing the wires shall be paid for by the person moving that house or building.
   (F)   No building shall be permitted to remain in any one place on the streets or alleys in the course of its removal for longer than 24 hours.
   (G)   Notice of the removal along a street or alley shall be given to the City Engineer at least 24 hours before moving the same and setting forth the route to be covered.
