§ 97.02 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   "COMPRESSION RELEASE ENGINE BRAKES." Hydraulically operated devices that convert a power producing diesel engine into a power absorbing retarding mechanism.
   "DEFECTIVE EXHAUST SYSTEM." An exhaust system which, for whatever reason, does not maintain its noise level within manufacturer's specifications, including acceptable tolerances.
   "MODIFIED EXHAUST SYSTEM." Any exhaust system in which the original noise abatement devices have been either physically altered or supplemented, causing that system to be materially less effective in reducing noise than before the alteration or supplementation.
   "MOTOR VEHICLE." Any vehicle powered by a mechanical engine and designed to be driven or used on any public or private property, including but not limited to any automobile, van, motorcycle, motor-driven cycle, motorscooter, dune buggy, snowmobile, al1-terrain vehicle, go-cart, minibike, trail bike, or truck.
   "PERSON." An individual, association, partnership, or corporation which includes any officer, employee, department, agency, or instrumentality.
