§ 96.02 RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROPERTY ADDRESSING.
The responsibility for the issuance of street addresses shall be assigned to the City of Huntington Plan Commission. I.C. 36-7-4-405 grants a plan commission the power to prescribe a numbering system, assign street names and approve the naming of all streets in platted subdivisions. The Plan Commission shall issue and keep a permanent record of all issued property addresses with local postal authorities and E-911 personnel. The Plan Commission shall have final approval in the naming of streets in platted subdivisions, mobile home parks, commercial or industrial business parks, etc., within the zoning jurisdiction of the city. The Commission shall coordinate its addressing efforts with the Huntington County Plan Commission and any other appropriate entity in the unincorporated areas within its zoning jurisdiction. Upon assignment, the owner shall then immediately cause the number to be placed upon the house or building in a conspicuous place at the entrance thereof.
