§ 50.38 MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR ESTABLISHING WATER SERVICES.
   (A)   All water mains, valves, fire hydrants, pipe, pipe fittings, and their applicable accessories and the installation of such valves, fire hydrants, pipe, pipe fittings, and their applicable accessories shall be approved by the Department and meet then current standards of the AWWA and the local specifications adopted by the Board. In the absence of applicable AWWA standards or local specifications, the ten state standards shall apply. The AWWA standards are incorporated herein by reference and two copies of the materials shall be available for inspection and copying at the Clerk-Treasurer's office during normal business hours.
   (B)   Piping and tubing which has previously been used for any other purpose other than for potable water systems shall not be used.
   (C)   All valves must be operational in the clockwise direction only.
   (D)   All shut-off and control valves shall be readily accessible.
   (E)   Integrity of plumbing.
      (1)   Piping before and after all inside water meter settings shall be replaced or repaired by the user and without cost to the city whenever leaks, corrosion, or other circumstances are such that repairs are needed to maintain safe and serviceable connections.
      (2)   The section of water service piping between the property or easement line and a building shall be replaced or repaired by the user and without cost to the city whenever needed.
      (3)   Water service may be discontinued without additional notice at any time more than seven days after written notification from the Department or Water Department that a leak or unsuitable plumbing is present on the affected user's premises if that circumstance is not satisfactorily addressed before that discontinuation of service.
