Canvas awnings of the folding, rolling or hinged type or metal or wooden arcade awnings may be erected beyond the building line when the same are not less than eight feet above the sidewalk and shall be two and one-half feet from the curb line when unfolded, unrolled or constructed. Each awning, so hung or constructed, shall be anchored or hung from the building, without the use of supporting posts.
