(A) The following species of trees, listed by common name, constitutes the official street tree species for the city. No species other than those included in this list may be planted as street trees without permission of the City Tree Board.

(B) Any request to plant street trees other than those listed above shall be by written request to the City Tree Board. The request shall be accompanied by the written recommendation of the county agent’s office. The written permission of the City Tree Board as to variance shall not be effective until a majority of the City Council shall have approved the variance, and the City Clerk shall have endorsed upon the written permission of the City Tree Board the approval of the variance by the City Council. The City Tree Board shall review and approve all tree planting plans for park trees, as defined in § 97.01.
