§ 1-1003 CITY TO PAY; FAMILY COVERAGE.
The city will pay the total cost of the group health, accident, medical and hospitalization insurance for each employee, appointive officer and Mayor and if any such employee, appointive officer or Mayor files with the City Clerk in writing his or her election to have other members of his or her family included in such insurance plan, then the city shall obtain such coverage for such members of his or her family as such group insurance plan permits. The written election constitutes authorization for the city to deduct from the employee’s, appointive officer’s or Mayor’s compensation such amount at each compensation payment time as will be sufficient at premium payment time to pay the additional premium incurred by the inclusion of such other members of his or her family under the group insurance. The written election continues in effect until the employee, appointive officer or Mayor files a written statement with the City Clerk that he or she no longer desires to have his or her family covered by the insurance. Every employee of the city is provided group health, accident, medical and hospitalization insurance on the employee’s person.
