It shall be the duty of all members of the police department to enforce all provisions of this code and state and federal laws, to preserve order, to prevent infractions of the law, and to arrest persons violating the law. Each member of the police department shall obey the order and direction of his or her superior(s) and shall perform the duties as prescribed by the rules and regulations governing the police department, or by general orders issued by the police chief.
