1353.02 POLITICAL, GARAGE OR YARD SALE SIGNS; SIZE.
   (a)   As used in this section, the term “garage sale sign” or “yard sale sign” means signs of any type used for the promotion of, or announcement of, a yard or garage sale to be held on the premises of a private residence.
   (b)   No person shall post more than one temporary sign advertising a garage or yard sale in the yard of a residential area. Such signs shall not exceed nine square feet in area.
   (c)   As used in this section, the term “political sign” means signs of any type used for the promotion of candidates running for political office, and issues on local, state, or national election ballots. Signs expressing a general political opinion or belief are not considered political signs herein. All political signs shall be subject to the following regulations:
      (1)   Political signs shall not be illuminated;
      (2)   Political signs shall not have more than two faces. Signs shall be removed no later than seven (7) days after the election day for which the sign is intended.
      (3)   No political sign shall be located in a manner as to obstruct ingress or egress to adjacent property, pedestrian traffic on the public right away, or as to obstruct the vision of drivers at intersections.
      (4)   No political sign shall be placed on any utility pole or tree or be placed in the public right of way.
      (5)   All political signs shall be set back at least five feet (5'- 0") from the edge of the pavement of the street in residential areas.
      (6)   No political sign shall be erected or maintained so as to prevent free ingress or egress from a door, window, or fire escape, nor shall any political sign obscure any other sign which directs attention to an emergency exit, fire extinguisher, or other safety device.
      (7)   No political sign shall be erected or maintained on any public property within the City limits with the exception of signs advocating action on a public issue, including school levies.
   (d)   There shall be no sign or permit fee nor shall there be any registration requirement for the placing of political signs.
   (e)   Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.
