§ 32.02  APPOINTMENTS.
   The Chief of the Fire Department and the officers shall be elected annually by the members of the Department subject to confirmation by the City Council. Each shall hold office for two years and until his or her successor has been duly elected and confirmed, except that he or she may be removed by the Council after public hearing for cause or incompetency shown after public hearing upon due notice upon stated charges in writing; provided that removal as Chief or officer shall not be considered as removal as a member of the Department. Firefighters and probationary firefighters shall be appointed by the members or the Department subject to confirmation by the City Council. Firefighters shall continue as members of the Department during good behavior, and may be removed by the Council only for cause or incompetency and after public hearing upon due notice upon stated charges in writing.
