Pursuant to Section 4.2 of the City Charter, there is hereby established in and for the City a Department of Public Safety. The Department shall be in the immediate charge of a Director of Public Safety who shall be responsible directly to the City Manager. The Director shall be responsible for the coordination and general supervision of the work of the Police Department, the Fire Department, the Building Department and the Department of Civil Defense.
