The city may designate routes of travel on public streets and highways within and through the city for commercial carriers, trucks and buses. Such commercial carriers, trucks and buses may deviate from any designated route only to the extent necessary to reach a necessary destination within the city. Any street which is not a designated route for commercial carriers, trucks or buses may be posted with appropriate signs prohibiting such traffic.
