§ 50.04 CONNECTIONS FOR FIRE PURPOSES.
Upon application to the Village Manager, and under his or her direction or his or her authorized representative's direction, proprietors of manufacturing institutions, lumber yards, halls, stores, elevators, warehouses, hotels, and public buildings wishing to lay large pipes with hydrant and hose coupling, to be used only in case of fire, will be permitted to connect with the street mains at their own expense, and will be allowed the use of water for fire purposes, upon payment of standby charges as established by resolution of the Village Council. All the pipes must be provided with a suitable valve, which must be sealed by the village, and a stop and waste cock attached at the bottom on the inside of the building. When the seal is broken for the extinguishment of fire, the owner or party or proprietor shall immediately give notice to the Village Manager, and in case the seal shall have been broken for any other purpose, the party so offending shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. A stand pipe will not be allowed on any premises where the water is taken for other than fire purposes, unless the consumption is metered and the meter charge paid.
