(A) Equal housing opportunity for all persons, regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, age, sex, marital status, HIV-positive status, or disability, is a fundamental policy of the village. The village is committed to diligence in assuring equal housing opportunity and nondiscrimination to all aspects of its housing financing activities. The village has an ethical as well as legal imperative to work aggressively to ensure that housing programs comply fully with all state and federal fair housing laws. The village has appointed the Village Manager as its fair housing contact person and the village will maintain a Fair Housing Log that shall disclose information relating to any and all fair housing concerns and their outcomes. Persons wishing to file a complaint will be referred to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the State Department of Civil Rights. MSHDA will be notified by the Village Manager if a complaint is filed.
(B) The offices of the village are accessible and barrier free. The village will make every attempt to reasonably accommodate all of its customers.
(C) The village will post a fair housing poster in a place visible to the public and will obtain literature pertaining to fair housing provided by MSHDA for distribution. "Fair Housing, It’s Your Right" brochures will also be distributed to all applicants.
(D) The village will consider all applicants and contractors based on qualifications. No applicant or contractor will be denied access based on his or her race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, family status, HIV-positive status, or disability. Person(s) raising concerns regarding discrimination will not be retaliated against.
(E) The village is committed to a positive relationship with individuals. The village will identify their fair housing needs and/or barriers and will work toward resolving any of these concerns in a reasonable manner.
(F) The village is committed to providing safe, affordable, decent, and sanitary housing located in areas where people choose to live.
