§ 126.055 INSPECTION OF VEHICLES; ISSUANCE OF LICENSE AND FEE.
   (A)   (1)   Prior to the use and operation of any vehicle under the provisions of this chapter, and semiannually during the months of April and September thereafter, such vehicle shall be thoroughly examined and inspected by the Police Department. The vehicle must comply with all rules and regulations prescribed by the city. These rules and regulations shall be promulgated to insure safe transportation and shall specify the safety equipment and regulatory devices that are required. The vehicle must pass inspection successfully prior to issuance of occupational license. A charge of $1 per vehicle shall be made for each inspection. Such vehicles may be inspected by the city at other times as may be necessary, but no charge will be made for such additional inspections.
      (2)   When the Police Department advises that a vehicle has met the standards established herein, the Finance Department shall issue a license to that effect; this license shall also state the authorized seating capacity of the vehicle.

   (B)   The periodic inspection required in division (A) shall include, but not be limited to the following items:
      (1)   Front lights
      (2)   Rear lights
      (3)   Tires
      (4)   Steering
      (5)   Exhaust system
      (6)   Glass
      (7)   Horn
      (8)   Brakes
      (9)   Rear view mirror
      (10)   Windshield wipers
      (11)   Taximeter
      (12)   Interior condition
      (13)   Emergency wipers
      (14)   Exterior general appearance
   (C)   Upon successful completion of the inspection, a six-month decal shall be placed in a conspicuous place designated by the inspector.
