§ 6.3 FIRE DEPARTMENT.
   (A)   The Council shall have power to enact such ordinances and to establish and enforce such regulations as it shall deem necessary to guard against the occurrence of fires in the Village and to protect the property and persons of the inhabitants of the Village against damage and accident resulting therefrom. For this purpose the Council may establish, organize and maintain, within the administrative division of the village, a fire department, which shall be under the direction of the village council. Provided, however, that, until otherwise provided by ordinance passed by a five (5) member vote of the Council, the fire department of the village shall be and remain as now organized.
   (B)   Unless otherwise provided by a five (5) member vote of the council, the Village Council shall appoint, with the advice of the Village Manager and fire association members, a Fire Chief who shall be the head of the Fire Department. He/She shall serve at the pleasure of the Council.
