Except by procedures provided in this charter, the terms of the officials of the Village elected for a definite term shall not be shortened. The terms of officers of the Village may not be extended beyond the period for which any such officer was elected except that an elected officer of the village shall, after his/her term has expired, continue to hold office until his/her successor is elected and has qualified.
