§ 33.04 APPOINTMENT, TERM OF OFFICE AND COMPENSATION OF REGULAR AND ALTERNATE JUDGE.
   (A)   As provided in Tex. Gov’t Code, § 29.004, the Town Council hereby ordains that the Municipal Court of said town shall be presided over by a regular Municipal Judge to be appointed as provided in said Tex. Gov’t Code, § 29.004 and this section.
      (1)   Such Judge shall posses the qualifications of an elector of state, and the Judge first appointed hereunder shall hold his or her term of office corresponding to the unexpired term of the Mayor of said town and every two years thereafter a regular judge for said Court shall be appointed for a term of two years. Any person appointed Judge of the Municipal Court of said town under the provision of this chapter shall hold his or her office for the term appointed and until his or her successor has been appointed and qualified. To remove the appointed Judge during his or her term requires a two- thirds vote of Council as described in Tex. Local Gov’t Code, § 22.077.
      (2)   The Judge of said Court shall receive such compensation as may be fixed from time to time by the vote of a majority of the Town Council present and voting at any regular or special meeting thereof and, in addition, shall be reimbursed for authorized expenditures incurred on behalf of said town. At the time any person is appointed as the regular Judge of the Municipal Court of the town, his or her bond and security shall be prescribed by the Town Council.
   (B)   As permitted by Tex. Gov’t Code, § 29.006, upon the affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the Town Council present and voting at any regular of special meeting thereof, any person possessing the qualifications of an elector of said town may be appointed as Alternate Municipal Judge to serve as such at the pleasure of the Town Council.
      (1)   At the time any person is appointed Alternate Municipal Judge of said town his or her bond and security shall be prescribed by the Town Council.
      (2)   When the regular Judge of the Municipal Court of said town is temporarily unable to act as such for any reason, the person appointed Alternate Judge of the Municipal Court of the town shall sit for said regular Judge and shall have all powers and duties of the office and shall receive the same compensation as is payable to such regular Judge while such person is so acting.
