§ 150.009 AWNINGS AND SIGNS.
   (A)   Awnings.
      (1)   All awnings within the fire limits of the city shall have metal supports from above with frames made of either iron, aluminum or wood, with cloth, canvas, corrugated iron or other metal covering. The lower part of such covering where it extends across or over the sidewalk shall be at least seven feet above the same. No such awning shall exceed eight feet in width.
      (2)   If any awning within the fire limits of the city shall, by reason of its construction or use or from decay or any other cause, be reported to be dangerous or unsafe so as to endanger life, limb or property, it shall be the duty of the city inspector to immediately inspect such awning or structure, and if he or she deems the same dangerous and unsafe, he or she shall cause the same to be made safe, removed or destroyed in the same manner and according to the same procedure provided by the code relating to unsafe structures.
   (B)   Signs over sidewalks. It is unlawful for any person to erect or maintain within the fire limits any sign or other structure for advertising purposes over or across any sidewalk in the city.
