§ 150.008 SMOKE ALARMS REQUIRED IN CERTAIN BUILDINGS.
   (A)   Multi-unit buildings.
      (1)   All multi-unit buildings within the city limits shall be equipped, at the expense of the owner of such building, with such smoke alarms and fire prevention equipment as shall be prescribed by the laws of the state.
      (2)   If such equipment is not required by law, then in that event, the owner of any multi-unit building in the city shall be required to provide one smoke alarm device for each unit contained in the building.
   (B)   Applicability of section. This section shall apply to both new and existing structures located within the city limits. Multi-unit buildings now under construction and those units built after April 6, 1982, shall comply with the requirements made hereunder prior to the opening of the building for use or occupancy.
