§ 98.24 AUTHORITY OF POLICE TO TAKE POSSESSION OF ANIMALS KEPT IN CRUEL MANNER.
   (A)   Any animal control officer or police officer may enter the premises where any animal is kept in a reportedly cruel or inhumane manner in violation of §§ 98.12, 98.22 or 98.23 of this chapter, and demand to examine the animal and take possession of the animal when, in his or her opinion, it requires humane treatment.
   (B)   The animal control officer or police officer shall be authorized to give owners or custodians warnings or initiate proceedings to have charges filed against them for cruel and inhumane treatment.
