The city is responsible for all costs associated with drug or alcohol testing. However, if an applicant or employee requests a confirmation test of a sample within 24 hours of receiving notice of a positive test result in order to challenge the results of the positive test, the applicant or employee is responsible for the cost of the confirmation test unless the confirmation test reverses the findings of the challenged positive test. In such case, the city will reimburse the person for the cost of the confirmation test.
