6-7-3: DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS; BONFIRES:
   A.   Prohibited: No person shall hunt and no person shall fire or discharge within the village any cannon, anvil, gun, pistol, air rifle, or firearm, or set off, fire or explode any torpedo or firecracker, fireball, rocket, or other fireworks whatever, or make or kindle any bonfire; provided, the discharge of firearms, the setting off or exploding of firearms and the making of bonfires upon national holidays and in the celebration of other public and general events, or the discharge of blank cartridges by a military company when on parade and in command of the commanding officer, or the discharge of firearms by any village officer or other person in the discharge of any legal duty when the same is done in such manner as not to endanger the safety of any person or injure any property, nor the discharge of firearms in duly licensed shooting galleries, shall not be deemed a violation of this section.    B.   Report Required: It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge any firearm, except at a firing range, without reporting such discharge to the police department as soon as possible. Any person violating this subsection shall be fined as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code for each offense. (1985 Code § 5-7-3; amd. 2016 Code)
