§ 70.042 REPORTING ACCIDENTS.
   (A)   The driver of a vehicle which is in any manner involved in an accident resulting in bodily injury to or death of any person or in which it is apparent that damage to one vehicle or to the property is in excess of $300 shall, as soon as practicable, report such accident to a police officer or to the Police Department unless settlement of the collision has been made within six months after the date of the accident.
   (B)   If a driver makes out a written report of the accident in the office of the Police Department as soon as practicable after the accident, which report is to be forwarded to the State Department of Public Safety in accordance with state law, the driver shall be deemed to be in compliance with this section.
