Existing addresses may or may not meet the criteria of this subchapter. It is the intent of the city to keep existing addresses and roadway names that do not create confusion or conflicts with the newly addressed areas. It may be necessary to change existing addresses in order to address newly subdivided or annexed property. When an address must be changed to meet the intent of this subchapter and provide for location and identification by emergency services, city staff shall notify the property owner of the pending address change in writing along with an explanation as to why the address must be changed. The property owner will then have 30 days from the date of notification to change the display address to the newly assigned address number. Failure to change the address shall result in enforcement action outlined by this chapter.
