(A) There is continued in the city a Volunteer Fire Department, which department shall have the following officers: a Chief; Assistant Chief; four Captains; and a Secretary.
(B) The Chief and Assistant Chief of the city’s Volunteer Fire Department shall be appointed by the City Council in accordance with the procedure laid out in the Hinckley Fire Department’s Organizational Handbook. The four Captains and Secretary shall be elected by the city’s Fire Department members in accordance with the procedure laid out in the Hinckley Fire Department’s Organizational Handbook. All officers shall serve a two-year term.
(C) Firefighters and probationary firefighters shall be appointed by the Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department, subject to confirmation by the City Council. Firefighters shall continue as members of the Volunteer Fire Department during good behavior until retirement, but may be removed by the City Council for cause after a public hearing.
