§ 96.39 SIGNS AND POSTS.
   It shall be unlawful for any person to erect, cause to be erected, or maintain after the erection within the city, in front of any business house or other building, structure, or place, any sign or post, except lamp posts and hitching posts, which shall extend over or rest on any sidewalk. No person shall be held liable under this section, who shall before erecting the sign or post, obtain permission to erect it by resolution of the City Council.
