§ 91.60 MINIMUM FIRE CONNECTIONS ON COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS.
Any commercial structure to be submitted for approval of plans by the state, or by a local certified building department, which is served by the Fire Department, or by a joint fire district department in which the city participates contractually or as a member, shall have the following.
   (A)   Fire Department connections on all newly constructed commercial buildings equipped with a sprinkler system shall be equipped with a five-inch Stortz connection.
   (B)   All Fire Department connections shall be within 100 feet or less from a fire hydrant connected to the city water distribution system. This, in some circumstances, may be accomplished by a remote Fire Department connection in the appropriate area of the closest fire hydrant as stated above.
   (C)   Knox Boxes or similar devices shall be required on all newly constructed commercial or newly opened business structures.
   (D)   If the Fire Department connection is greater than 24-inches above the ground, such connection shall have a 30- or 45-degree downward elbow or turn-down in order to reduce the strain on the large diameter hose when an attachment is made.
