131.07 AUXILIARY POLICE OFFICERS.
   In the Police Department, there is hereby created a body to be known as the Auxiliary Police Unit which shall be under the management control of the Chief of Police. The Mayor is hereby authorized to commission such number of men and women in compliance with this section as is necessary to supplement the regular police force. The Chief of Police shall promulgate rules and regulations for the organization, training, administration, control and duties and conduct of the unit, subject to the approval of the Mayor. Members of the unit shall perform such duties and functions as directed by the Chief of Police and the Mayor.
   Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit are not eligible for participation in the Police and Firemen's Pension and Disability Fund and shall be in the unclassified service of the municipality.
