131.05 RESERVE POLICE OFFICERS.
   The position of Reserve Police Officer is hereby established within the Police Department. The Reserve Police Officer shall be under the management control of the Chief of Police and the Chief shall establish eligibility qualifications for members of the Reserve Force with the approval of the Mayor. The Mayor is hereby authorized to commission such number of men and women in compliance with this section as is necessary to supplement the regular police force. Reserve Police Officers are hereby authorized to preserve the peace and enforce the laws of the State and the City. This authority contemplates that such officers shall have the right to bear arms and have authority to make arrests for the commission of misdemeanors. Members of the Reserve Police Force shall be employed on a part-time basis and are not eligible for participation in the Police and Firemen's Pension and Disability Fund and shall be in the unclassified service of the municipality.
