When it becomes necessary or advisable in the opinion of the Mayor, to employ assistance and/or special counsel to assist the Law Director in the performance of his or her duties, the Mayor may employ such assistance and/or special counsel, including any law firm with which the Law Director may be associated, connected or a member, and agree to pay such assistance and/or special counsel such reasonable compensation as shall be approved by Council.
