Trenches in tree lawns or adjoining sidewalks shall be filled to grade level by the end of each day or shall be protected with substantial barricades and lights if left overnight. Trenches through sidewalks are prohibited except by specific permission of the Director of Public Works and/or CBO. In any such case, the trench shall be backfilled before the end of the day, or shall be bridged and protected by guard rails and red lanterns as required of excavations herein.
