1306.09 DUTIES OF CHIEF BUILDING OFFICIAL.
   (a) The Chief Building Official shall be responsible for the examination of plans, the issuance or refusal of permits under applicable provisions of the ordinances of the Village and the laws of the State, the inspection of buildings, and such other powers as are now or may hereafter be conferred upon building commissioners, plumbing inspectors or electrical inspectors by the ordinances of the Village or the laws of the State. The Building Administrator and assistant building inspectors shall have similar powers and shall exercise the same under the supervision and control of the Chief Building Official (CBO).
 
   (b) The CBO, in conjunction with the Fire Chief, shall conduct an inspection of each building owned and used by the Village on an annual basis. A report of the annual inspection and the results thereof shall be filed with the Clerk of Council on or before June 1 of each year. Such inspection shall include but not be limited to the applicable requirements of each code adopted by the Village and shall focus on safety requirements. When, in the opinion of the CBO and/or Fire Chief, there exists a situation or issue that needs immediate attention or correction, the CBO and/or Fire Chief shall report, in writing, these issues directly to the Mayor and the Clerk of Council and shall report any required corrective measures to be made within a reasonable time. The Mayor, or his/her designee, shall order every reasonable effort to make all necessary corrections and report the status of the corrections to the Clerk of Council, in writing within 30 days of the first notice by the CBO/Fire Chief.
