(a) Paid holidays for the full-time hourly paid Village employees are to be as follows: New Year's Day; President's Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Columbus Day; Veterans Day; Thanksgiving Day; the day after Thanksgiving; Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
(b) If a holiday falls on a Saturday, the employees shall receive the Friday before off in lieu of the Saturday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, the employee shall receive the following Monday off.
(c) Whenever any full-time hourly paid employee is required to work on any holiday, he or she will be paid at the rate of time and one-half for all hours worked on such holiday, and, in addition, shall receive pay for the normal holiday or, in the alternative, shall receive compensatory time off.
(d) For all holidays listed in subsection (a) hereof, each employee who is eligible for holiday pay must be on the Village payroll on the day the holiday is observed, must have performed some work in the payroll period in which the holiday is observed, and must have worked the scheduled day before and the scheduled day after the holiday.
If an employee is absent due to a bona fide illness, as certified by a doctor, immediately prior to and/or after the observation of any holiday, or if the employee is on a scheduled vacation, or if there is a death in the family of an employee as defined under the current ordinances, or if the employee is called to a jury duty, or for some other bona fide reason, the employee will be entitled to holiday pay.
