8-4-14: NO PERMIT REQUIRED:
The following may be constructed, installed, maintained, operated or performed on, along, over or under any village right of way without first obtaining a permit issued by the village:
   A.   Mailboxes:
      1.   Notwithstanding the provisions of this chapter, an individual may erect and place a receptacle for receipt of U.S. mail and motor or rural delivery of daily or weekly newspapers subject to United States postal service regulations.
      2.   All such installations shall be placed so as to assure public safety and facilitate snow removal. Design criteria of the U.S. postal service shall be adhered to with respect to size and placement of mailboxes.
      3.   Persons installing such objects shall be responsible to do so in a safe and appropriate manner and shall be responsible for any damage or liability caused as a result of such installation.
      4.   The village shall not be liable for the repair or replacement of mailboxes damaged by village vehicles or employees when the mailbox is in violation of this section. Village liability for repair or replacement of any mailbox is limited to twenty five dollars ($25.00). This limitation shall not apply to wilful and wanton conduct by village employees directly causing mailbox damage but such liability shall be limited to the cost of repair or replacement for a same or similar mailbox.
   B.   Driveways: See chapter 3 of this title for further information and requirements.
   C.   Driveway Culverts: See chapter 2 of this title for further information and requirements.
   D.   Sidewalks: See chapter 1 of this title for further information and requirements.
   E.   Installation And Maintenance Of Service Connections: No permit shall be required from utilities for installation and maintenance of service connections to customers' premises when there will be no disruption of the right of way. (Ord. 2011-08, 3-21-2011)
