6-2-5-5: HARBORING STRAY ANIMALS:
   A.   Stray Dogs and Cats: Stray dogs and cats are a menace to public health and endanger bird and other life, and the running at large of any dog or cat within the limits of the Village is hereby declared to be a nuisance and prohibited. Any dogs or cats not equipped with a tag around their collar identifying the owner thereof, or any cat without a bell or other device capable of making a noise shall be deemed a stray dog or cat.
   B.   A person who habitually feeds any cat, dog, or other domestic or wild animal, not owned by him or her, on a regular or irregular basis, or cares for or actively seeks the attention of said cat, dog or other domestic or wild animal at or upon his or her property or within the Village shall be guilty of harboring a stray animal. It shall be unlawful for any person to harbor a stray or unowned or unclaimed domestic or wild animal in the Village. (Ord. 2023-51, 11-2-2023)
