1-9I-2: QUALIFICATIONS:
The Superintendent of Streets and Drainage must meet the following qualifications and standards:
   A.   Experience: Prior experience or any equivalent combination of training is preferred, with administrative qualifications in respect to controlling and supervising operations, personnel and the functions of a Municipal Public Works Department with specific understanding or experience in construction, maintenance, and planning of streets, alleys, rights-of-way, sidewalk, stormwater detention, drainage, and parks.    B.   Residency: Shall reside within twenty five (25) miles of the Village corporate limits unless otherwise specifically approved by the Board of Trustees. (Ord. 2017-30, 5-18-2017)
   C.   Mandatory General Requirements: The Superintendent of Streets and Drainage must:
      1.   Be able to perform each duty hereinafter stated satisfactorily.
      2.   Have good communication skills and a calm demeanor in responding to citizen questions and complaints and in dealing with the general public in everyday activities.
      3.   Follow the lawful directives issued by the Director of Public Works or other appropriate supervisor or official of the Village.
      4.   Have the ability to work within established guidelines.
      5.   Have the ability to perform repetitious tasks.
      6.   Have the ability to use and operate pick-up trucks; tractors; forklifts; lawnmowers; weedeaters; chain saws; chippers; blowers; various spray equipment; heavy equipment as needed for proper street and drainage operations; and miscellaneous power tools for turf maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and cement finishing work.
   D.   Mandatory Physical Requirements: The Superintendent of Streets and Drainage must be able to meet the physical requirements set forth for the Public Works' employees. (Ord. 2015-39, 8-20-2015)
