1-9G-3: POWERS AND DUTIES:
The duties of the Public Works employees include, but are not limited to:
   A.   General Duties:
      1.   Repair, replace, patch, crack seal and maintain the A-3, bituminous or other road surfaces owned by the Village;
      2.   Fill low places, pot holes, and ruts in road surfaces, shoulders or rights-of-ways owned or maintained by the Village;
      3.   Repair, clean, install and maintain culverts, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, gutters, ditches, and other drainage facilities owned or maintained by the Village;
      4.   Clean and maintain Village owned bridges;
      5.   Perform hand mowing, mowing, and trimming of the various properties owned or maintained by the Village, including, but not limited to, parks, Village rights-of-way, and real property of the Village;
      6.   Collect and appropriately dispose of or compost brush and landscape waste, except for grass trimmings and other such items specifically not collected by the Village;
      7.   Sweep streets;
      8.   Read meters and assist in the operation and maintenance of the water and sewerage distribution systems;
      9.   Maintain, repair and clean the Village parks, tennis courts, and other Village properties;
      10.   Perform routine housekeeping duties, keeping stockpiles of materials appropriately stocked and shaped, and such other tasks and requirements associated with the general care of the Village buildings and grounds;
      11.   Straighten, erect, and clean Village traffic signs;
      12.   Lubricate, service, make minor repairs or adjustments, or cause maintenance to be performed on the Village equipment, including, but not limited to, Village trucks, tractors, mowing and trimming machines, brush chippers, construction equipment, snow plows, cinder spreaders, or any other Public Works' vehicles or equipment;
      13.   Perform normal security measures by making sure all equipment, tools, materials and property of the Village are secured at the end of each work shift;
      14.   Prepare, complete and maintain necessary paperwork for operations affiliated with the Public Works duties and responsibilities, which may include, but is not limited to, records of materials, equipment usage, inventory, hours worked, vehicle and equipment usage, and other assigned record keeping;
      15.   Perform traffic control as needed;
      16.   Performs mechanical work as needed;
      17.   Performs occasional welding;
      18.   Works overtime as required to complete tasks;
      19.   Work weekends and odd hours when necessary;
      20.   Performs minor construction projects, carpentry, concrete and janitorial services;
      21.   Assists with Code enforcement of garbage, brush, trees, etc.;
      22.   Have knowledge of and be familiar with all safety policies, procedures, requirement or lawful safety directives that may be required or imposed to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the Public Works operations;
      23.   Perform all tasks while properly utilizing, wearing or otherwise adhering to all safety policies, procedures, requirements or lawful safety directives as may be required or imposed;
      24.   Work with and assist, where appropriate, other governmental bodies or private entities that perform work on behalf, oversee, or work with the Village;
      25.   Adhere to and comply with any lawful personnel policies, ordinances, resolutions or other actions of the Village Board of Trustees, or administrative or supervisor directives; and
      26.   Perform such other duties that are appropriate for the proper conduct and operation of the affairs of the Village. (Ord. 2013-44, 10-3-2013)
