8-6-13: MANDATED SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT:
Effective October 1, 2013, when a property owner is mandated, by the state of Illinois or the village of Herscher, to replace sidewalk on the public right of way which lies adjacent to the owners' property, the village will reimburse the property owner in an amount equal to fifty percent (50%) of the cost (inclusive of labor and materials) of the replacement of the old sidewalk; provided, however, that the village must approve a written cost estimate for any such sidewalk replacement prior to the commencement of installation of such replacement sidewalk; and provided that prior to such reimbursement the village inspector must:
   A.   Take measurements of the proposed sidewalk;
   B.   Approve the materials and method of installation of the new sidewalk; and
   C.   Issue a permit for the installation of the new sidewalk;
   and, provided that after completion of the new sidewalk, the village building inspector must:
   D.   Perform a final inspection;
   E.   Approve the installation of the sidewalk, as completed; and
   F.   Approve the request for reimbursement in writing. (Ord. 13-10, 9-16-2013)
