A. Construction Materials: Any driveway constructed within the village of Herscher shall be either: concrete, asphalt or brick pavers.
1. Concrete: Shall consist of 6-bag mix reinforced with a six inch by six inch (6" x 6") number 10 wire or shall be constructed with fibrecrete and shall be a minimum of five inches (5") in depth. A base of three inches (3") of compacted sand or three inches (3") of compacted CA-06/10 road mix shall be provided.
2. Asphalt: The base course shall not be less than six inches (6") of compacted CA-06/10 road mix. The asphalt course shall not be less than three inches (3") in compact thickness.
3. Brick Pavers: To be installed per the manufacturer's recommendations (instructions).
B. Gravel Driveways: Gravel driveways are allowed only where the driveway connects to an alley.
C. Building Permit Required: A building permit shall be obtained whenever a driveway is constructed. The building inspector shall inspect the proposed construction before the driveway is laid.
D. Applicability: This section shall be applicable to all driveway and/or parking areas which connect to village streets, county highways or state highways. (Ord. 11-5, 4-4-2011)
