A person commits battery if he intentionally or knowingly without legal justification and by any means:
A. Causes bodily harm to an individual; or
B. Makes physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature with an individual.
If any person shall be guilty of any battery within the village, such person shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined according to the provisions of section 1-4-1 of this code. (1983 Code)
