§ 50.16  LIEN FOR DELINQUENT CHARGES.
Delinquent charges for water and sewer service shall be a lien upon the premises as provided by statute. Whenever a bill for water and sewer service becomes delinquent, as provided herein above, the Village Clerk may file with the County Clerk of Shelby County a notice of lien. If the water customer whose bill is unpaid is not the owner of the premises, notice of delinquency and termination of service shall be mailed to the owner of the premises, if his or her addresses is known to the Clerk, prior to filing a notice of lien. The failure of the Clerk to record such notice of lien or to mail such notice or the failure of the owner to receive such notice, shall not affect the village’s right to foreclose the lien for unpaid water bills as provided by law.
